Our Inspiration

The inspiration is in the name. The Pioneer Coat was born from the legacy of those who came before us…the early settlers, wranglers, and wanderers who rode through vast, untamed lands on horseback, chasing freedom and forging new paths across the American frontier. They faced every season head-on, but it was winter that tested them most.

Through snow-choked mountain passes and high desert plains, they pressed on. From the jagged, wind-beaten spines of the Rockies to the mist-drenched pines of the Pacific Northwest. Through the bone-deep chill of Utah’s canyon winds, across Nevada’s frozen basins, and into the icy solitude of the Eastern Sierras. These lands demanded resilience.

The Pioneer Coat is built in the spirit of that grit. Designed to shield you from the elements...rain that lashes sideways, snow that settles in heavy silence, and wind sharp enough to steal your breath. Whether you’re out gathering firewood in a high-alpine forest or making your way through a muddy trail at dawn, the Pioneer stands ready to weather the storm with you.

Because true exploration doesn’t stop when the weather turns. And neither should you.

Why we made it this way

What sets the Pioneer Coat apart from the rest? 

Simple. The materials, the mindset behind it, and lastly, the exclusivity. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill department store jacket that is mass produced. It’s built with intention, from the ground up. Only 25 of them were made. 

For the exterior, we chose a rugged 12.5oz waxed cotton canvas from British Millerain... the original pioneers of weatherproof fabric since the 1800s. It’s durable, water-resistant, and made to age with character, not fall apart with wear.

We didn’t stop there. To truly hold its own in harsh conditions, we went with genuine sheepskin wool for the collar, not a synthetic knockoff. It’s soft, dense, and incredibly warm, keeping your neck shielded when the wind cuts deep. Cold ears? Flip up the collar and see if they’re still complaining. This collar is the real deal and it has your back.

Some may call it overkill, but we call it standard: the front closure features a heavy-duty YKK zipper backed with a storm flap secured by snap fasteners…an extra line of defense against biting wind.

Storage is dialed, too. We kept it simple. Two side welt pockets keep your hands warm and ready, while a single chest pocket is perfect for your everyday essentials such as a pair of glasses, your phone, or a notebook. All pockets are lined with the same material as the interior, for comfort you’ll notice.

Inside, the Pioneer Coat is fully lined with 11.5oz Italian wool which is prized for its warmth, softness, and breathability. No scratchy, stiff insides here. Just smooth, insulating comfort that lets you layer light and still stay warm. We snuck in iside pocket for your concealables as well. As for the sleeves, we went with quilted nylon for easy slippage and comfortability.

New World Functionality

As much function the Pioneer Coat has for the old style of western travel and living amongst the land and sea, we designed it for modern usage with timeless and unfailing materials.

The jacket is a trucker fit for comfortable sitting in the rig. A lot of the times while on the trail, we are getting in and out of the truck to take photos or make a recovery on another rig. That is the reason for the slightly shorter cut. makes it easier and more comfortable to move around. 

The collar is more than just a style nod. It’s built with function in mind. When the wind starts whipping through the cab or you’ve got the window cracked open on a cold morning trail run, flip the collar up. It stands tall and firm to shield your neck and most of your ears from the chill. The genuine sheepskin wool traps warmth and blocks drafts, acting like a built-in scarf without the hassle. Whether you’re hauling gear, spotting a line, or just chasing the last bit of daylight, this collar’s got you covered…literally.
