A cabane à sucre, known in English as a “sugar shack,” is a small cabin or group of cabins primarily found in Eastern Canada where sap collected from sugar maple trees is boiled into maple syrup. The name derives from the 19th century process of tapping maple trees and making crystallized maple sugar, which was the preferred method of conserving sap (syrup was introduced later on). The crystallized sugar was then broken down into slices and melted or shaved over traditional dishes and if you grew up in the Northeast than a school trip to one of these sugar shacks was one of the best days of the year. The refreshing cold, the smell on pine and maple trees, and of course, the endless maple syrup you could pour right from the source.
We have tried to capture that with a candle made with hints of maple and cedarwood.
Just like all of our candles, we use a coconut oil based wax which is 100% natural, non-gmo, and sustainable along with hemp wicks and pour them into 1 pint paint cans. The coconut wax is poured at a high temperature which creates a long lasting, clean burning candle with a create scent throw. Some candles may experience "sweating" (expulsion of excess oils) during changes in temperature but this is normal and should dissipate when it returns to a regular temperature.
DO NOT LEAVE CANDLES UNATTENDED AND ONLY BURN ON FLAMEPROOF SURFACES.
